This is Fred's description of his setup....This is my hybrid version of some that I saw. I think that it would be considered a 2 stage system. First stage is made up of two 3M furnace filters. The first one (outside) is a Micro Allergen with a rating of 1000. Behind that is a Maximum Allergen with a rating of 1700. From the pictures you'll see there are three sets of these filters (two sides and bottom). The second stage is made up of 5 Honeywell HEPA filters stacked together. These filters are labelled "permanent". You are supposed to be able to vacuum them out when they get dirty.

Filter Stack

Ed, do you know where Fred acquired the filters he used for the center stack? Looks like a bunch of large auto air cleaners, actually, like for older model V8s.

Thanks
