Getting Close
Cyclone is installed, wired, and tested. The installation went smoothly with the help of a teenaged son to aid in the lifting and holding-while-attaching. The wiring was a real bear, the motor was miswired by Leeson, got it figured with Ed's help.

Filter Bottoms Opened Up
Both filters have their closed bottom cut out. It worked out quite neatly, not that neatness mattered, since they will not be visible anyhow.

Filter Modification!
Drilled a small hole, then used a sabre saw to cut out the unwanted bottom cover. Worked great!

Camfil-Farr 211736-1 filter
Camfil-Farr 211736-1 filter. Note that the non-flanged end is closed, but we need it to be open. See the next photo for the solution to this problem!

Relay Box
Wall mounted relay box. 30A relay is controlled by x10 remote relay. Power is via 10 gauge BX from the shop subpanel with a dedicated 30A three phase breaker. Power goes from this box to a dryer plug, then to motor.

Impeller Housing
Impeller housing temporarily installed. Bracket is a bit longer than normal to allow for "curb" in wall that will interfere with the garbage can.

Motor Subassembly mounted
Here is the motor subassembly placed on the bracket, with the impeller attached. The impeller was quite a bear to get on. And how is one supposed to tighten the bolts to the specified torque - I have an Allen key, but not a 'torque Allen key'!

Bracket Mounted on Wall
I decided to install the Clearvue in the garage, rather than outside the basement shop. I have a couple of machines there already, and may move my entire shop there. The bracket is painted, installed, and with a couple pieces of closed cell foam in place.

More Trouble!
I built this according to the instructions, it seemed that the anchors were in wrong. As soon as I started to tighten them up, one popped out. I sent this picture to Ed, he told me that the plate is supposed to be inverted from what is in the on-line inst

Gasket
I put a 1/8" gasket all round, hopefully that'll make a good seal.

Unpacked
Everything arrived today in the big brown truck. I unpacked it and got right to work, put shellac on the edges of the MDF in preparation for painting it all white. Since my house is white I am hoping the neighbours won't notice it when I put it up!

Cracked
Uh oh - trouble! I noticed there is a crack in the clear piece that is used on the blower housing. It is right on the corner where the piece has the sharp bend in it, and it is almost a complete semi-circle. There is only about 1/2" left before the w

Original Shop Layout
I decided to take a hard look at the shop layout as part of the Clearvue upgrade. This is the layout I've been using as I built the shop up over the past five years or so. The shop is about 9' x 18', north is up.

Proposed New Shop Layout
Here is the layout that I arrived at. Making up the silly little paper cutouts really helped a lot. I doubt I would have figured this out without them. It should really simplify the ducting. After I did this, I reconfigured the shop to match this layout.

Original General DC System with Garbage Can Separator outside House
It's been outside for a while, lots of slime growing on it. Notice too all the chips on the ground. These escape from the Lee Valley garbage can separator when I use my DeWalt 735 planer which has a fan built into it to extract the chips. Seems that this

Shop - West End
This is the original shop layout, looking west. The original 4" ducting can be seen exiting the shop in the top left of the picture. There is also a drop with a reduce to 2 1/2" that I use for a shop vac.

Shop - East End
This is the original shop layout, looking east. Most of the machines and ducting are visible in this shot. The DC is behind us, following the right duct. Lots of sharp 90 degree bends. I estimate the static pressure on this system is about 20. I estimate
