Unusual Install

I moved my ClearVue to the attic, and mounted a filter plenum next to it, keeping as much floor space as possible downstairs. It required a LOT of fabrication, but it was fun. The plenum houses 6 Torit Blue ULTRA-WEB filters that were donated by my former employer. More pics to follow as things progress. Downstairs, you'll see the ultimate full-bin detector .. ..it's a Bindicator Tuning-Fork style unit. It has two forks .. one emits a signal .. the other detects it. When there is communication, everything is fine .. when the signal is disrupted (barrel full) it switches 4 solid-state relays. I have one of them setup to fire a 110v strobe letting me know what's up.

Free filters.

Free filters.

These are the 6 Torit filters .. I fastened them end-to-end with a gasket on the top & bottom of each pair. Overkill, I'm sure, but they were FREE. My former employer (now retired) gave them to me .. they were "dirty".

Looking up, into lower plenum chamber.

This is a shot of the bottom of the plenum .. this is where the filters will live. I made some deep "guides" at the top where they seal to make it easier to get them in place.

THis is the top of the plenum. Threaded rod will come up & into these "t"-nuts with a regular washer & nut on the top secured with Loc-Tite. I want the threaded rod to be able to move inside the unit .. it will be very evident later

Here's where the whole thing will live.

Here's the hole in the floor through which the entire plenum will be lifted. Once in place, the threaded rod will be installed and the filters loaded. Then the blower housing will be cut down and fitted to the inlet of the plenum.

When it sees the bin as being full, this starts flashing .. it's a 110v strobe, and you can't miss it in broad daylight with all the lights on ..

This is a shot of the upper plenum, showing the filters in place, and the modified Clearvue blower housing feeding into it. After fitting the blower outlet into the plenum, I opened up a gap of about 1/8" all the way around and caulked it to give i

Homemade duct hanger.

The next three pics are of some plastic standoffs I made to mount the ductwork to. I needed the PVC to be about 1 1/8" down from the ceiling to accommodate my light tracks, and also away from the wall to clear the trim. All-in-all, they were pret
